The port of Weihai , located at the eastern tip of Shandong Peninsula , Weihai, a well- known port and tourist city in China ,is one of the coastal open cities and the first national Environmental City in China as well as one of the first national Model Cities for Environmental Protection.
There are 6 special ports and 85 cargo ports such as Longyan port in Weihai. Weihai Port is a deep water and ice-free port. Shidao Port is the largest fishing port in the north of China. Weihai has built up a multi-functional and well-facilitated harbor system consisting of the normal ports ,container ports ,coal ports and the ports for tourists .The regular passenger-cargo ships from Weihai to Inchon and Busan, Korea, the container liner from Weihai to Japan as well as the line from Weihai via Qingdao/Dalian to the other places of the world have been already in use.
The Port of Qingdao, situated at the Jiaozhou Bay of Shandong Peninsula, bordering on the Yellow Sea and facing Japan and Korea Peninsula across the sea, is a natural deep sea port with no situation and no freezing all the year round. The Port of Qingdao, with its advantageous geological location and favourable natural conditions, is an important transit port in the Yellow River valley and on the west coast of the Pacific Ocean, and is also a hub port for international trade and north-south sea borne transportation. Being a natural deepwater port, free of silt and freezing, the port has established trade relations with over 450 ports in more than 130 countries and areas.
